I have to admit, I thought it would be much more difficult quitting sugar. Some experts suggest that you can wean your way into quitting and others recommend the cold turkey approach but I’m an all or nothing kinda gal so just giving it all up at once is what generally works best for me.
The first few days were actually the worst. Days one, two and three I did experience some mild headaches, a bit of nausea, chills and sweating but leading into day four and beyond, most of the symptoms seemed to disappear.
Typically, I do drink alot of water but this past week, I just can’t seem to get enough of it. It almost seems like my body is trying to shed all the garbage I’ve been storing away in there for so long.
I’m super-conscious of everything I’m eating now. I read labels like a crazy woman. And now that I’ve actually mastered how to calculate the sugar content in food, it sure saves me a great deal of time figuring out what I can and can’t eat.
So, I know you want to know if I’ve lost any weight. That is the big question I’m getting from pretty much everyone. I was actually quite shocked to learn that I had lost 7lbs my first week of doing the unSugar Project. I know, crazy right? I’m sure a large majority of it is water loss; but still…
I feel really energized going into my second week and I can’t wait to try out some new recipes on my unsuspecting family. They aren’t participating in my 21 day experiment but that doesn’t mean I can’t sneak in a bit of good stuff when they aren’t looking, right?
Anyhow, I hope this post has you thinking about the benefits of unSugaring your life for 21 days but if not, even just cutting back on your sugar intake is a good start.
